Democrats won,

I keep hearing from TV people that the message of the 06 election was that people wanted the two parties to get along. I want to know how the democrats thoroughly kicking the republicans asses could indicate that. I want to know how an election could indicate that period. Were people voting for both candidates and drawing hearts in-between them. Either I missed the "do you want the parties to get along?" question on the ballot or the media is just making shit up to fill some kind of narrative that doesn't involve them as coconspirators to America's greatest folly (the Iraq war). What the elections showed me is the country thinks the republicans were corrupt, greedy and leading the country down the sewer. Oh and they are all closeted child molesters.

Exercise,

The general contractor on the job I am on is safety crazy. One of the things they make us do is stretches in the morning. I don't really mind this, it actually helps my sore proletariat muscles most days. The weird thing about this is every time I am on one of these jobs (3 times that I can remember) someone regularly refers to this as "exercise". I am no fitness guru, but I don't consider touching my toes exercise.

For some reason this reminds me of the time a guy I was working with asked the foreman to pass him the "stripper news" part of the paper during break. He was referring to the sports section with an add for a strip bar that put pictures of the ladies in the add.

Back at it,

I went back to work today for the first time in a couple of months and man oh man am I tired. I have been working on my house a lot lately, but that is only for a couple of hours. The eight hour day was a bit much today. The job seems good, but I very quickly found out that me and the other guy that started today are replacing two guys that got laid off last week. No one seems to really know why those guys got laid off, so I am starting out with the suspicion that they might be running through guys. We shall see. On the plus side the job is suppose to go until next March, so if I can stick around for the bulk of the time I will be in good shape.

I need to get into some whiskey and my recliner.

The rest of the story,

So yesterday I wrote;
I had to take a drug test this morning. I am anxious to see if I take drugs or not.
And my anonymous friend wanted to know if this meant I got a job. No. In the last contract for the union a drug test policy went into place. This was three years ago; apparently the contractors then decided they didn't want to fund it until now so the whole union is getting tested. However yesterday afternoon, after the drug test, I did get a job and guess what; It requires a drug test. It sounds like they will be able to use the one I just took, but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes and I have to take another one. If I do have to take another one, it will be the third one I have taken since September. How ridiculous! I understand that they don't want someone jacked up on goofballs (although I would dispute that this is common enough to warrant drug test) driving lifts off buildings, but three times in seven months is borderline harassment, in my opinion.

Last time I went back to work I titled the post "Hi Ho, Hi Ho" as in off to work we go. Shortly after that my boss looked at me one morning as we were about to walk into work and said, "Hi Ho Hi Ho," and then smiled. I doubt he read my blog, it is kind of hard to find unless you are really looking for it, which only made it that much more weird.

Daily Show,

Remember when Bush appointed John Bolton to the UN and the democrats went nuts and the republicans said there is nothing wrong here. Well now that Bolton is out of the UN he hasn't been quiet about issues and is making all the people who opposed him look good. Like when he came out against us brokering a deal to stop North Korea from making nuclear weapons. I watched a show where the commentator (Gwen Ifill I think) asked why he came out against this. If I was on the show I would of said, "This is why the democrats were going to filibuster him, because he is bat shit crazy." Here he is on the daily show making up history.

This sums up the Bush stance on subpoenas;

Jontown,

I had to take a drug test this morning. I am anxious to see if I take drugs or not.

On TV last night they had a thunderstorm watch up. I don't need my TV to take up a quarter of my screen to give me the same information my window can.

Lara Logan was on Letterman last night. She is a really good reporter, but insanely good looking. I shouldn't have those feelings while hearing the death toll in a war zone.

In-between the lines

President Bush says;
A defiant President Bush warned Democrats Tuesday to accept his offer to have top aides testify about the firings of federal prosecutors only privately and not under oath
So what he is saying is his top aides are going to lie and even their lies are going to be so damaging that they have to be private.

Next President,

I haven't wrote about the next presidential election since Feingold dropped out because I really haven't figured out where I am yet. Right now as it stands for me it is between Edwards and Obama. I am leaning towards Edwards, but I expect that I will end up in the Obama camp in the end. Actually it probably won't matter for me since a ton of states have moved up their primary, so more than likely by the time Wisconsin gets its turn it will already be decided. I am not particularly excited about either guy, but I think there is the possibility of being wowed by both of them at some point. Edwards has been hanging back in the weeds and letting Obama and Clinton snipe at each other. This may very well be a good plan, it is basically how Kerry got the nomination last time, but I would much rather have someone out front pushing the party and his issues. I also am reluctant to vote for another southerner. I think we have had enough of them lately. Obama on the other hand has just been dull. He has the ability to be one of the most dynamic politicians of our time (and probably is), but instead of using that to push through progressive change or at least swing the country a little to the left he seems to just want to go along with the flow and not make any waves, once again not what I am looking for in a candidate. Maybe I am just having a let down from having such a great candidate to back in Feingold. Oh well it is still kind of early.

I will probably write more about the race in the next few weeks, but that is where I stand now.

The finger,

Ziegler has a commercial where she brags about sending one sex predator to jail for 60 years (or something like that I can't find the commercial online). While watching the commercial it seems really weird to me that she felt the need to point out this one case. Maybe this is why.

My TV,

A whole slew of mid season television shows are out and here is my take,

The Black Donnellys is three episodes deep and I am already bored with the repetitive plot. I am still trying to understand why in the second episode when they were trying to fit the body in the 50 gallon drum and he needed to remove the legs he went to the store and bought sledge hammers. Granted you can pound a leg off, but wouldn't it of been a lot fast, cleaner and just smarter to get a saw and cut the leg off. I might be a bit prejudice to the show since it took over for Studio 60 which after a slow start was quickly becoming very interesting. I fear that TBD will replace Studio 60. On the plus side that will probably be less TV I have to watch.

I have come to the conclusion that I don't like canned laughter. It seems to be something they use for unfunny shows to make them seem funny. This is all I have to say about Rob Corddry's The Winner. It's a shame, he was so funny on the Daily Show.

Last night I watched Andy Richter's new show Andy Barker PI. The first episode wasn't great, but it seemed to have a lot of promise. I also like that Tony Hale (Buster on Arrested Development) is on it. I don't think NBC has a lot of confidence in the show since you can watch all the episodes online.

Also on yesterday was Raines. I watched this show basically because nothing else was on. They were advertising it as another cop gets help from dead people show, how strange that that is an actual category. However this isn't what was really happening. Jeff Goldblum, the main character, hallucinates the victims to help him solve the crimes, but it isn't as crazy as it sounds. He is aware that they are hallucinations and it is more like a thought process then a mental problem. It also has this cool film noir feel. I really like the first episode. I can easily see this becoming my favorite show and I am sure if this happens it will get canceled shortly. I don't know why I invest time in these stories since the network cancel them so quickly. Yeah I am still bitter about Arrested Development.

Some funny,

I hate Clinton jokes! More specifically Clinton sex jokes. I don't hate these because of partisanship. I hate them because it is nearly a ten year old joke and is used at least once a week by these late night hacks. So for the record if these chuckle heads are telling Bush is dumb jokes every week after he is out of office, in 2016 I will be pissed off about them too.

With all that here is a Clinton joke. Well sort of.

300 and the baby,

I remember the first time I went to a movie alone. I was nervous and felt a loser until I got into the theater and saw I was hardly the only one there alone. If you think about it going to a movie is a very antisocial thing to do. You are suppose to sit there and be quite for about two hours. It is considered rude if you talk to your companion. In a way it is quite odd that going to a movie is considered a somewhat social thing to do.

Anyways, I went to 300 yesterday. Once again those feelings of being a loser somewhat returned since I have been to the same theater three times in the last three weeks. Once again that feeling disappeared when I got into the theater and saw about twenty people (OK all guys) by themselves. Usually when I go to a matinee by myself there are a few people by themselves, but nothing like this movie. Then as the last preview was playing a couple walked in. I kept looking at one of them because it looked like he had a baby in one of those front harness with him. I couldn't believe it. 300 is a bloody ultraviolet war movie, I realize this baby was too young and probably wouldn't take any of it in, but something just seemed terribly wrong about it. Besides the fact that I didn't want to hear a baby cry during the movie. I did hear him a couple of times, but the asshole with the cell phone was much more annoying. He only talked on it once but he kept looking at it and the light screen distracted my attention from the movie.

I had carefully orchestrated 300 to my 2,000 movie rated on netflix. However it wasn't quite as good as I thought and only merited four stars. On the other hand I watched an American Experience DVD called Riding the Rails, I made that my 2,000 rating because it was awesome.

A good sense of humor,

It looks like Ziegler has more conflict of interest problems;
Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Annette Ziegler has presided over 22 cases involving companies in which she owned stock worth more than $50,000, a Wisconsin State Journal review shows.
I like her excuse;
I do not try to look for ways to get out of work.
Well at least she has a good sense of humor.

Basically she is claiming that she didn't rule in favor of the companies she is invested in because she takes her job seriously. And maybe that's true, but there is definitely an appearance of partiality and a lack of judgement, which is something that is kind of important for a judge to have.

Still she probably has a good chance of winning because I only see her commercials on TV bragging about her bipartisanship. Not coincidentally the groups running the adds are highly partisan, but who looks at that? Also low turn out will probably help her. I really hope unions and other liberal groups get there shit together and start campaigning against her.

Out of the frying pan and into a frying pan,

Just as the Scooter Libby scandal comes to ahead suddenly there is a new one.

Uhg,

Last night I was watching Four Days In September. There was thirty minutes left in the movie and it freezes up. I take the movie out and clean it and same thing happens, then I repeat with the same results. So here I am with thirty minutes left in a movie and I can't watch it. The movie was interesting, but not that great and I really would like to see how it ends, but if I do that it will take netflix forever to mail me a new movie, because they are really sucking at shipping movies out lately. So I am just going to have to pass on the ending. As far as I know those guys in Brazil still have our ambassador hostage.

Stupid Movies,

I watched two movies recently that I thought could of been really good, but ended up sucking.

Tideland, by Terry Gilliam. This could of been a really good movie if he didn't put the sexual aspect in it. That might sound like a weird thing for me to say, but the sexual aspect is necrophilia, pedophilia and hints at incest. Although I should say it isn't very graphic. I recently mocked the words they use to rate movies, but I agree with these "Rated R for bizarre and disturbing content, including drug use, sexuality, and gruesome situations - all involving a child,"

It could of been a good movie if it was just about the little girl forced to live on her own and befriending the mildly retarded neighbor. But it wasn't instead it was just creepy.

The second movie Flyboys I really wanted to like, but they corned the movie up so much it made my stomach turn. The movie is about a bunch of Americans that went over to France to learn to fly in fighter planes in WW1 before America got involved. Like I said I really wanted to like this, WW1 is often forgotten in the shadow of WW2, but I think WW1 has much more potential for interesting stories. They started the war with muskets and horses and ended it with machine guns and tanks, not to mention the start of air forces. Anyway back to the movie. So there was a good story here, but the shoved every cliche they could think of and made all the real situations so corny I just couldn't buy into them. They had the rich guy who wouldn't share a room with the black guy only to share his expensive liquor with him after the black guy saved his life. The main character was flying his plane to dates without consequences until he almost gets caught by the Germans then the Captain scolds him then gives him a metal. I won't even get into the completely stupid scene with the plane crashing in no man's land. I really wanted to like this, but it ended up being too stupid to be believable.

This and Thats,

It looks like the judge that I voted against has some ethical problems,
Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Annette Ziegler failed to disclose a conflict of interest in at least four cases over which she presided as a circuit judge in the past year,
Hopefully this will sink her ship.

Shut the lentin' up.

Hopefully I can find a link to the Simpson's last night were Bart takes the blame for Fox News. I found the quote
"I had a dream that me and my family were all cartoons! And that our success led to a propaganda channel called FOX News!"
Hopefully I can find a clip yet.

I don't know what they are saying (besides no racism just football) but I found this is pretty funny
