Surprise!!! It's a neocon,

Condoleezza Rice made a "surprise visit" to Beirut the other day. It seems like every week someone from the White House is making a “surprise visit” to some country. I know the reason this administration makes all these "surprise visits" is because if they were announced it would be too dangerous for them, but the frequency of these "surprise visits" is starting to seem silly to me. It is like this administration has some sort of surprise party fetish. I wonder if they get off the plane expecting surprise looks on the leaders they are leaving out in the cold. "Hey I know we are destroying your country, but now I am here. Let's go get drunk." Maybe they have to make all the “surprise visits” because they can’t get an invitation. I am going to start just showing up places and say “surprise” and see how that works for me.

But seriously a battle that could easily turn into WWIII (To those of you that thought you saw an extra W, you are obviously seeing things) is getting it very first (and very minimal) hands on attention after nearly two weeks of fighting. Do they want a whole regional war? I don't think I really want to know the answer. This whole thing eerily reminds me of Katrina.

A Face In the Crowd,

Somewhere, somehow I heard about this movie "A Face In The Crowd". The big selling point I heard for it was Andy Griffith plays a dark roll. Well that was enough to make me want to see it. However I wasn't ready for a movie made in 1957 to depict modern politics and celebrity in such an accurate way that it could of just as easily been made in 2006. I don't want to say too much since I would highly recommend everyone seeing it. I will say this; Andy was perfectly cast as a character that would of got locked up by his television personality on a real risky episode of "The Andy Griffith Show".

Also watch the bonus feature about the movie. It is very interesting.

Socialist sports,

I work with a guy that is so over the top right wing that when someone during break started a conversation about soccer he responded, "I don't watch soccer. It's a socialist sport." At first I dismissed it thinking I must of misheard him, but when I got back from break the guy that I am partnered with confirmed what he said. So now calling pretty much anything socialist has become a running joke with the two of us.

Anyway Former Milwaukee Mayor Frank P. Zeidler died. An interesting little bit of Milwaukee history.

Russ and John's,

It looks like Feingold and McCain have teamed up again. I think this one is going to be a real fight before it will be successful.
