Round 2,

Dave Letterman had Bill O'Reilly on his show again. I was a little worried that Letterman would try to be nice to make up for the first time, but he once again slapped him around like the first time. He delivered some great shots here are my favorites;
Letterman: Let me tell you something, I don't even know how to get to your show.

O'Reilly: Right down, you just go straight down, you take a right.

Letterman: But it's on, it's on Fox, I dial up Fox and it's always The Simpsons. And I don't - Where are you? Bill?
* * *

O'Reilly: It's an easy question, If you don't want the United States to win -

Letterman: It's not easy for me because I'm thoughtful.

* * *

Letterman: I didn't say he was an evil liar. You're putting words in my mouth. Just the way you put artificial facts in your head.

Boobs,

This is a funny story.

Fox ad,

According to Kos a version of the Michael J. Fox ad is going to run in Wisconsin governor's race. This should be another plus for Dolye.

Meanwhile Big fat, four time divorced, drug addict tries to say he is acting or off his medication. But is debunked by doctors on the bottom of that post and in the update of this post. Making the condition of Fox's disease as a issue can only help the pro-stem cell movement.

Some links,

I had to share this Chuck Norris piece.

This is the most powerful political ad I have ever seen. That is what happens when you fuck with cures for dying people.

Keith Olbermann has been making strong commentaries on the Bush administration recently. Here is his latest.

Iraq is middle earth?

This is all over the blogs (I first saw it on Kos). If you haven't seen this it is a must watch;

They sure are making it easy for shows like The Cobert Report these days.

Finally,

This new poll has Doyle over 50% and Green way down. This seems like a huge jump. I am guessing this has to do with the Foley scandal. I think that was a final blow to the republicans. Of course he doesn't have a big enough lead to make it a sure thing yet. But here's hoping.

Couch potato,

Television;
Last year after my initial disappointment that a few of the shows I enjoyed were canceled or ended I found some comfort in that I would have more time to do other things besides sit in front of the television. However this year I find myself sucked into more shows than last year. Going into the year I watched The Simpsons, Lost, The Office and the Law and Orders. Now I added to the list Studio 60, Heros, 30 Rock and I was watching Smith, but that is already canceled. Heros seems to be NBC's answer to Lost, so far it seems pretty interesting. The first episode of 30 Rock was pretty funny, mostly because of Tracy Morgan. Studio 60 is pretty interesting but I hope will get better. Smith seemed like it had a lot of potential and had Sick Boy from Trainspotting on, but at least it got the ax before I got too involved. Plus the way they moved shows around cut into my PBS time, but there is always summers for that. Also there are too many shows that start at nine. I get up at four fuckin' thirty in the morning; I need more than six and a half hours of sleep. Oh I also watch Grey's Anatomy, but I am embarrassed by that.

Movies;
I treated myself to a viewing of the Departed yesterday. I thought it started really good. In the middle there was some were time line jumps. They were so undefined and seemingly unnecessary that I honestly wonder if this was a theater mistake or something. I thought they went for the simply ending, which was a bit disappointing. But all in all still a really good movie. I am now going to read the original and see how close they are.

Music;
I got four new cd's in the mail today. It has been awhile since I have bought new music. I got a early Against Me! called Crime as forgiven by. Evergreen Terrace's Writers Block, I have wanted this one for awhile. It is all covers. The Lawrence Arms's Oh! Calcutta! I didn't even know they had a new cd out. I don't follow the punk scene like I use to. And then Samiam's new album Whatever's got you down. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of them yet, but hopefully they deliver the rock!

Bad defense,

Tommy,

Over the years it has always been a rumor around Wisconsin that former governor Tommy Thompson wants to run for president. Apparently he is going to start the ball rolling by starting a PAC. This kind of makes sense since the republicans don't seem to have a front runner since George Allen put his foot in his mouth for the last couple of months making his unelectable as president and suddenly finding himself in a much closer senate race than was expected and McCain who the base of the party hates, so there is a lot of room for a guy to come in.

However starting a PAC now is so late. Even the lesser candidacy have millions in their coffers by now. He is joining a game half way through. Also from the article;
a Thompson spokesperson said that the PAC money will be used to support candidates who support Thompson's issues.
This is what politicians do with PAC's. They donate to similar minded or at least similar partied candidates around the country to build up support for a potential bid at the White House. The elections are next month, he has no money (as of today he hasn't even officially started the PAC). How is he going to raise money and give it to candidates to use for a campaign that will be over in less than a month.

This whole thing seems weird and a bit stupid to me. He seems behind on his political timing. This summer he was considering running for governor again just after Green freed up his primary, potentially royally screwing Green.

For some reason,

My post aren't going up. I am trying to figure out what is up.

Give them enough rope,

Looks like the Republicans lost one congressional seat before the elections even started. Here is the perverts story. This is my favorite part.
Though Florida ballots have already been printed with Foley's name and cannot be changed, any votes for Foley will count toward the party's choice.
and then
David Johnson, a former state Republican chairman who worked as a strategist for Foley, said it will be difficult for the party's pick to win with Foley's name on the ballot.
Yeah it is hard to check the box for a child molester even if the vote will go to someone else.

Now there is a whole cover up story. I think this post on Kos makes a good statement. It is ironic that the conservatives are ones who call deviant the most, but end up being the deviants.

Adrian's email,

My friend Adrian sent me this email. What Adrian wrote is in red and my comments are black. Here is the link to the story he is referencing

Man, can you believe this shit !!??

--- "You do not create terrorism by fighting terrorism,"

Uhhh, when in history has war not emboldened portions of the masses
to engage in guerilla warfare? Jesus Christ, look at the
Revolutionary War from the side of the British.

How dare you look at the British civil war American revolution from the British side. The sound of steel boots coming up your stairs are the thought police coming to arrest you.

--- ... "If that ever becomes the mind-set of the policymakers in
Washington, it means we'll go back to the old days of waiting to be
attacked -- and then respond."

Oh, you mean the old days of being a civilized world power, fully
aware of the consequences of its policy decisions?

So you are trying to tell me that if we are having an argument and I punch you in the face, you are going to try to hit me back instead of changing your mind.

--- "Some have selectively quoted from this document to make the
case that by fighting the terrorists -- by fighting them in Iraq --
we are making our people less secure here at home," Bush told the
Reserve Officers Association. "This argument buys into the enemy's
propaganda that the terrorists attack us because we're provoking
them."

Selectively?? Has he read what they released?? FSS (for shit's
sake), you'd have to be pretty damn selective to hear any good
news. And secondly, "enemy's propaganda"? Does he mean the
propaganda of the experts in his own government? And thirdly, maybe
I've been under a rock, but I haven't been exposed to any of this
"enemy's proaganda", just Bush's interpretation of "it".

Yes Bush likes to spin. And apparently he admires it when other do it (from the "no comment" section of The Progressive)
Sympathy for Spinners
"I guess I would of done the same thing if I were them," said President Bush about Hezbollah's declaration of victory after the thirty-four day war with Israel.

Who is that enemy in Iraq anyway? Oh yeah, Iraqi's responsible for 9/11
(wink, wink).

Yeah who is that enemy in Iraq? And what is victory? There is all this talk about "cut and run" what does that mean? Unless you are for a permanent military occupation you are for "cutting and running". At some point we are going to have to leave Iraq and I am sure there will still be opposition to us and they will claim victory. All this "cut and run" name calling coming from Republicans is aiding our enemies with there eventual victory claims.

In conclusion Let me add some quotes
